Letters from readers, cont-5., November 1960
Sir,
In answer to Mr. R. J. Rickards, I would like to say how much in agreement I am with his remarks on the Wolseley Eustace Watkins 1935 Special.
I am in possession of an identical model, which I obtained in November 1956. I ran this car until January 1958, when I had the misfortune to have a cracked cylinder block which proved irrepairable.
Up to the present time I have tried unsuccessfully to locate a replacement engine. Whilst running, however, this car was indeed a joy to drive, having an outstanding close-ratio gearbox.
Anyone who has owned one of these cars will, I feel sure, agree with me when I say that it is one of the most pleasing cars to drive of the 1935 period.
