BARCELONA, MARCH 2-3
Running with Esprit Compétition, a Paul Ricard-based team, testing and coaching with Philippe Scemama in his Lola T70 and BMW CSL ‘Batmobile’. The BMW is a dream car, especially to me. I was at Silverstone in 1976 when Ronnie Peterson drove the turbo version. Awe-inspiring. We ended up with rain, but useful set-up work.

SEBRING, MARCH 5-9
Flight to Florida to my favourite track to race a Ligier LMP3 with Gary Ball in the Prototype Challenge at the Classic 12 Hours. Unfortunately, Gary had to start form the pitlane when a compressor failed as we were about to roll to the grid. The team, Hudson Historics, was terrific and swapped the compressor in minutes. But then a novice driver moved over on Gary, caused some damage and that was it.
I also raced with John Spiers. He’s bought a 1967 Mustang that he’ll keep in America run by the Olthoff team. We’ll take that car to this year’s HSR events. John drove solo in a sprint race and finished on the podium.
