Road rally ideas for your classic
Have classic car, will travel. For those who don’t just want to go to historic races but also want to take their own car on an adventure there are several options and a wealth of events.
Classic Grand Touring (classicgt.co.uk) specialises in creating driving holidays with a racing edge. In May it’s putting on The Birkin Tour, which will be exclusively for Bentley Drivers Club members. It will explore North Norfolk coast where Henry Birkin grew up. In June it’s organising trips across the Channel first as part of the Chinon Classic, and then to the Le Mans Classic.
Venture Bound (venturebound.co.uk) offers a more sedate experience with driving tours that aim to promote the Best of British, from gin to cheese, craft beer to cider. The emphasis is on soaking up the best driving routes.
One of our favourites is Happy Few Racing, (happyfewracing.com), a France-based firm that focuses on creating family moments combined with classic car tours. After the success of its Rallye Père-Fils which, as the name suggests, gathers father-son teams together to compete in the south of France, it now also features Rallye Père-Fille for father-daughter teams. More traditional events are also on offer including in June its Ferrari F40 event and in a neat combination of the two concepts, a fathers, sons and Porsche event to be held in October.
