Bruno Senna joins Airspeeder racing crew
Flying racing series Airspeeder recruits Bruno Senna as test pilot ahead of its debut competitions
As part of his apparent mission to race in pretty much anything, anywhere, Bruno Senna, right, will take to the skies as part of the Airspeeder series. Having raced in Formula 1, Formula E, the World Endurance Championship and Le Mans, GT series, IMSA and even Brazilian Stock Cars, Senna will take the next step in his colourful career by becoming a development pilot for the new ‘flying car’ series.
Initially, Airspeeder plans some remotely flown races, similar to drone races, where pilots will compete via a first-person camera feed to their headset. The quad-copter machines are expected to be fully manned for year two.
Senna said of his new role: “I’m a full-on geek and nerd, so it’s a good coming-together for me. I love flying FPV [first-person view] drones. I’ve been doing it since 2014 and this is bringing together two big passions.”
We still await an exact calendar for Airspeeder, but an announcement is due soon.
