Herbert to race in Italian tin-tops
Johnny Herbert will contest his first full season in Europe since 2004 in the Superstars touring car championship.
Herbert will race a Chevrolet Lumina CR8 in the Italian-based series for V8 saloons for the Motorzone team.
Herbert moves over to Superstars after three outings in a Team Dynamics Honda Civic in last year’s BTCC.
“This is another chance for me to do a full championship again,” he said. “I’m still hungry for it and was pleasantly surprised by the BTCC. I was a bit apprehensive about racing a front-wheel-drive car, but I was shocked by how good it was.”
The series includes non-Italian races at the new Algarve circuit, Hockenheim and Paul Ricard as well as a fly-away event at Kyalami. Fellow Grand Prix veterans Gianni Morbidelli, champion for the past three years, and Pierluigi Martini will also be on the grid.
