Leo Villa's Bluebird album

Leo Villa was right-hand man to first Sir Malcolm and then Donald Campbell, so no one was closer to the many speed record attempts of father and son. During that time he took endless photos of the team’s efforts on land and water, many of them with a 3D camera. Those colour shots are the hook on which this book hangs, and it provides a vivid picture of ‘The Skipper’ and comrades as they journey between continents seeking glory in speed. Such text as there is comes mostly from taped interviews Villa gave 35 years ago, so this is a personal commentary. The 3D imagery (3D glasses are included) is a novelty at best, and a little more scene-setting would help, but this is an involving and fresh look at the K7 and CN7 record attempts. GC
