Masterworks of the past
We have received some stupendous books about historic racing cars and their history recently. All credit to their industrious authors: but let us not overlook some equally magnificent works from the past. For instance, TASO Mathieson’s Grand Prix Racing 1906-1914: the pictures are black and white but give absolutely splendid coverage of this fascinating period. Nor should the enormously complete record in The Star and the Laurel – The Centennial History of Daimler, Mercedes and Benz 1886-1986 by Beverley Rae Kimes, published in 1986 by Mercedes-Benz of North America, Montvale, New Jersey, be ignored. A trawl of old motor book dealers, perhaps?
