The Lotus book Type 1 to Type 72

by Colin Pitt, ISBN 184155 6238 published by CP Press, £29.99

Hmmm. This claims to be ‘The essential guide to historic Lotus cars’, yet Coterie Press has already produced what pretty much passes for the Lotus gospel. And it costs only a tenner more while being an infinitely more cohesive effort. This one, unfortunately, skims over some models and the design is a bit amateur-hour. Plus it’s written by a lawyer, and reads like it. We don’t want to (completely) put the boot in as there’s no doubting the author’s knowledge of the subject — and we like to support smaller players — but much of this has been covered more effectively elsewhere.
