Silverstone celebration planned for BRDC 500
The 75th anniversary of the BRDC 500 RACE will be celebrated this summer at Silverstone.
An hour-long race for pre-war sportscars is planned for July 31 to mark the BRDC’s first organised event, which ran at Brooklands in 1929. The victors of the new race will be presented with a special silver cup inscribed with the names of every BRDC 500 winner.
Other events for the meeting include the Peter Hanson Trophy for 1-litre Formula Three cars, a double-header round of the BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship, Classic F3 and a 30-minute race for 1960s sportscars.
Attractions that were part of the BRDC’s defunct International Historic Festival will be incorporated, including the RetroRun, a trade village and car club displays.
