Golden age returns for sports protos
The European sports prototype trophy is set to feature excellent grids this season with 60 drivers registered in cars from the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Topping the field will be Ferrari 312PBs for Bill Binnie and Christian Glasel, while it is hoped that as many as four Alfa Romeo T33s will be racing. Porsche will be well represented with the 917 of Austrian Otto von Jacobs and 908s for August Deutsch and Dr Sigi Brun. Elsewhere, Lola 170s, Chevron B16s and Ford GT4Os also feature.
The championship’s season-opener is at Monza on May 19/20 during the Coppa lntereuropa event, and this will be followed by a round at Rockingham’s inaugural Coys Historic Festival on May 26-28.
