The 1906 Spyker 4WD racing car with the world’s first six-cylinder engine stars in a new show at the Dutch National Motor Museum at Ramsdonksveer, tracing 100 years of Spyker, Holland’s most innovative car manufacturer, it features 10 of the 15 survives, including the first, The Golden Carriage of 1898. Spyker proved its engineering prowess with second place in the 1907 Peking to Paris race. But pushing out technological barriers at its opulent factory inevitably took its toll, and it was declared bankrupt in 1926. MP
