A valuable link

A valuable link

Sir,

Reader Bill Timm (March 1994) may have a point that Monaco is an anachronism in the context of modern Grand Prix racing, but I have to say that its continued inclusion on the Fl calendar is nonetheless welcome for that. Modern racegoers don’t go to the Principality to witness overtaking opportunities, they go to soak up the atmosphere, and to witness drivers’ millimetric precision

at a venue which, more than any other in Fl today, save perhaps for Spa, places the greatest demands upon concentration.

The Monaco GP is a valuable link with the past, and as such it should be left well alone. If you’re worried that is a dangerous place to go, then don’t. Stuart Boyle, Denton,

Manchester.
