Split rear seats
Split rear seats
Mike Cotton, of Porsche Cars Great Britain, is mistaken to claim the introduction of the split rear seat to the 1955 Porsche 356A. A split rear seat was not fitted to a 356 until the introduction of the 356B in 1959.
The feature was very useful. My sun, when small, rode all over the USA in the back of my 356B Roadster, next to the luggage. He tells me now that he did not like the experience, as the bags used to slide on to him during corners.
Lest another pedant mention that rear seat backs were not fitted at all to both Roadsters and Speedsters, I should say that I fitted the scat into my car from a crashed 356 coupe. London, SW1 TONY STANDEN
