There has, it seems, always been a small gap in Stirling Moss’s history. The result for the 1953 GP at Monza showed him finishing 13th. However, behind that modest position…
A Jaguar Mk. IX Fan
Sir,
I have recently purchased a 1960 Mk. IX Jaguar, in my opinion a car of true Jaguar character and outstanding performance for its year. On reading your readers’ letters over the past year or more, I cannot recall reference being made to this particular model. Is it a scarce commodity in the used-car market, or are the owners so delighted with their acquisition that they are reluctant to part with same? Surely the standard of exterior finish and quality of interior furnishings surpass any of the foreign cars of that era; or am 1 a British traditionalist?
I would be happy to hear any of your readers’ comments on performance and mileage figures of this car as I am unable to find any information relating to road-testing of this car.
My own model is a manual version with overdrive, having completed 52,000 miles and is in superb condition. Arbroath, Scotland ALAN J. WHYTE
