Historic Commercial Vehicle Club
The HCVC has decided to admit to its membership commercial vehicles more than 20 years old, whereas previously it confined its activities to pre-1940 vehicles—another extension of the vintage date-limit of which we do not approve. The Club’s main fixture, the Brighton Run, which the Police insist is limited to 180 starters (as they limit the VCC Brighton Run to 250 cars), is scheduled for May 2nd, starting as usual from Battersea Park.
Unfortunately the RAC has been withholding permission because the London Douglas Motor-Cycle Club has an event on the same day using the same road at Bolney! Lord Montagu is endeavouring to have this decision reversed and we sincerely hope this very enjoyable and instructive cavalcade of transport, which gives great enjoyment to so many people, will go ahead as planned. We hope to make an announcement elsewhere in this issue if this is the case.
The Yorkshire Branch has its own similar event, the Trans-Pennine Run, on August 8th—last year it attracted 137 entries. At December 31st last year paid-up membership stood at 522. The Chairman and Secretary is Michael Banfield, 32, Acland Crescent, Denmark Hill, London, SE5.
