The Complete Book of Formula One
By Simon Aaron and Mark Hughes ISBN 0760316880 Published by Motor Books International, £34.99
This work by photographic agency LAT is a fabulous idea that is sure to be welcomed by serious Formula One fans of all vintages.
The aim of the book is simple and laudable: to publish a picture of every car to compete in a round of the Fl world
championship from its inception in 1950 until 2003. That’s 2765 in total — and LAT tracked down all bar 31.
While picturing every Ferrari car-driver combo is a matter of record, the book’s great strength is that it also illustrates cars and drivers you might have forgotten or, indeed, of whom you may never have heard: from Veritas to Stebro to Connew and Marcel Balsa to Otterino Volonterio via Al Pease.
It’s a wonderful book — let down only by poor photo reproduction. BSJ
