Honda Accord
Amidst much repetitive praise for dealers who succeed in selling every car they can lay their hands on, Eric Sulley, Honda UK’s Sales Director, introduced the 1982 versions of the Accord to a mixed gathering of dealers and the press at the National Exhibition Centre late in January.
Two choices of body (either hatch-back or four-door), two choices of transmission (5-speed manual or “Hondamatic”) and two choices of trim (standard or “Executive”) give eight variants on the basic 1600 c.c.-powered Accord theme. It is claimed that the new cars show improvements in fuel consumption (due to external re-styling to reduce drag), interior space and noise levels. Recommended prices start at £5,190 for the manual hatch-back in standard trim and rise to £6.940 for the 4-door with Hondamatic transmission and Executive trim.
