In Defence of the TR6
Sir,
After reading all the letters in your January issue from many dissatisfied TR6 owners I felt I must write to you in defence of the TR6.
I purchased a new TR6 on 15-2-73 in the latest 1973 form. The dealer gave me half a tank of fuel at no extra cost and I could find no delivery faults at all. Since then I have completed 15,300 miles in which time only had a leaking diff, resealed and a leaking rear shocker replaced under warranty. It has ample power reserve when cruising at 100 m.p.h. and the brakes to stop it too.
Unlike its owner it has two vices. It drinks a lot of petrol and eats BMW 2002 Tii and other highly-rated foreign cars before breakfast.
B-Leyland do make good motors; the MG-B I had before the TR6 was just as good.
