The Byrom Type 35B Bugatti
Sir,
I was very interested to read your article in the current Motor Sport on Mr. J. C. Byrom. My particular interest lay in the fact that the Type 35B Bugatti mentioned and illustrated was one of my old GP cars, and was actually purchased by Mr. Byrom from me in 1948. I certainly thought the car looked familiar on the various occasions I have seen Neil Corner driving it.
I raced the car in one or two events principally in Ireland. It was road registered (GTC 697). The photo shows the GP car together with a Type 43 Bugatti which I normally used as a hack car. This type 43, incidentally, was unusual in so far that it had a rather pretty two-seater body specially built for it and also a Type 110 ENV pre-selector gearbox.
I must say how much I still enjoy reading Motor Sport each month, and am sure your readership is growing all the time.
