Ford Choose Dunlop SP Radial Tyres For Their New Capri

Ford have chosen Dunlop SP68 radial tyres to complement the performance of their exciting new range of family “fastback” Capri cars.

The decision to fit SP68 tyres as standard equipment on the 1300, 1300 GT, 1600, 1600 GT and 2000 GT models, was made by the Ford Motor Company after they had completed their own extensive tyre tests and proved that the Dunlop SP68 with its excellent road-holding performance in all weather conditions, fully meet Ford’s exacting tyre standards.

This latest adoption of Dunlop radial SP tyres brings the total of British car fitting these tyres as standard equipment to 35.

The tyre size for the Capri range of cars is 165SR—13 tubeless.

Capri Makes It Pirelli’s 10th Ford In Two Years
On Cinturatos

Ford’s exciting new fastback saloon, the Capri, has become their 10th car in two years to be fitted with Pirelli Cinturato textile radial ply tyres as original equipment. The Capri is shod with 165SR-13 tubeless textile radials as standard on the 1300 GT, 1600 GT and 2000 GT models, and Cinturatos are optional on the rest of the range. Pirelli test drivers took cars fitted with the tubeless radials to Germany where the covers performed to Ford’s rigorous specifications.

The first Ford announced on Cinturatos was the Corsair 2000E. Soon afterwards came the Cortina GT and Cortina Lotus, to be followed by the De Luxe Zephyr, Zephyr V6, Zodiac, Executive, Escort saloons and Estate. Now. Pirelli operate a new £45,000 depot with a 15,000 tyre capacity at Dagenham. Forty-five minutes after an order has been placed, an articulated vehicle with a fully palletised load of Cinturatos can be at Ford’s Dagenham factory.
