Excessive Brands Hatch Admission Prices

Sir,

As a reader of MOTOR SPORT and a spectator of motor racing I really must protest in the biggest possible way at the charges being made by the Brands Hatch people for the entrance, and particularly the Grand Stand accomodation for this years British and European Grand Prix. At Aintree in 1962 and Silverstone in 1963 it was 30s. all in entrance. There were five of us in the family so if we all had a programme this would cost a total of £2 2s. 6d. In Tatts 1962 or Pitts 1963 it was 30s. each and at Aintree this included paddock entrance – car park 10s. Cost for five of us, including programmes (booked in advance of course), £8 12s. 6d.

Compare this with Brands Hatch. All-in entrance for five, including programmes, £4 7s. 6d. or in the grandstands comparable with Tatts at Aintree, 47s. 6d. each, or for five £16 17s. 6d. including paddock entrance for five.

Now, honestly, can this be justified. I am absolutely disgusted and if I can shout this in as many places as possible perhaps I can do something about it. I know they’ve done all sorts of new things at Brands but what are they trying to do, pay for it all in one year?

If only we could ‘black’ the place both for this race and for the future. Can we? Come on, lets fight. I’m not going anyway. I can’t afford this rich man’s sport.
