VINTAGE CARS
Sir, The articles on Vintage cars in MOTOR SPORT are most interesting. I wonder how many of your readers who read details of Mr. Powys-Lybbe’a Talbot4J4arracq remember the time when the fourcylinder unsupercharged models were unbeaten. It would be interesting to know if any of those models are still running ! I should like to see a description in your series of the twelve-cylinder Sunbeam Mr. P. Lybbe used in the ” 500 ” as this must be one of the few cases where a Land Speed record car design has had a successful career as a long distance racer. (You will recall the late Sir H. Segrave’s efforts with this model before his twin engine car was produced.) Another car I should like to see described is the 2-litre Sunbeam which was the only car to win the French GT. for
England. Is it still in existence ? I feel it would interest some of the younger generation who think that only Italy or Germany can produce a racing-car to know that England was once to the fore in International Competition. I am, Yours etc.,
