What Do Yot Know About Cars ?

Report on Competition No. 8. TH first correct solution to our last month’s competition opened on the 15th January was that submitted by : Mr. R. J. Hewer, 26, Maze Road, Kew, Surrey,

to whom we have sent a cheque for one guinea.

The car in the photograph was a Diatto 2 litre, entered and driven by Mr. Cyril Durlacher in the Essex Club’s Six-Hour Race at Brooklands in 1927. Out of the total entries received, 9% only were correct. A wide variety of makes was suggested, the most popular being 0.M., a car which bore a strong resemblance to the Diatto in external appearance, particularly as to the mudguards.

Here is the list of other makes suggested, some of which had many supporters among the entrants :—Bignan, Tracta, Morris-Cowley, Austro-Daimler, Bugatti, Lagonda, Frazer Nash, HispanoSniza, Bentley, Delage, Georges Irat, Vauxhall, Lancia, Cierano, Citroen and It ala.

Problem No. 9.

The photograph which forms the subject of this month’s competition was sent in by Mr. F. K. Warren, of 119b, Palatine Road, West Lidsbury, Manchester, to whom we have posted a cheque for halfa-guinea. The rules for Problem No. 9 are as follows : 1. Cut out the coupon on the inside back cover, fill in your name and address and solution in block letters, and send

it to us in a sealed envelope marked ” Competition.”

2. Any alterations on the coupon will automatically disqualify the entrant.

3. The Editor’s decision on all matters relating to the competition is final.

4. Entries must reach this office, 39, Victoria Street, London, S.W.1, not later than the first post, March 15th, and a prize of one guinea will be awarded to the sender of the first correct solution .opened on that day.

5. More than one coupon may be included in one envelope.

6. No letter must be sent with the coupon.

7. The result will be published in our April issue.

Most followers of motor-racing are keen photographers, and have a collection of photographs they have taken at various events, or of sports and racing cars which are seldom seen. Look through your collection, and if you think you have any pictures that would puzzle other readers, send them along. The only condition is that the photograph must be the handwork of the sender. All those not used will be returned if a stamped addressed envelope is included.
