Life’s a Beach: Long Beach Grand Prix, California, April 13

The Californian street circuit is a jewel on the IndyCar calendar

Having hosted F5000 races, Formula 1, CART and now IndyCar, the Long Beach street circuit is one of the most evocative in the world. Second only to the Indianapolis 500 in terms of prestige the longest-running street race in America took place in April this year. It was won by Andretti’s Kyle Kirkwood after a pole-to-flag drive proving Álex Palou, who had dominated the season so far, could be beaten. It was his second win at Long Beach in three years; Palou finished runner-up.
