Show of strength

The fourth International Historic Motorsport Show, now titled Race Retro, enjoyed a record attendance as almost 25,000 people visited the three-day event. With a new date at the end of March, the show’s attendance was up 20 per cent over the 2006 event.

Motor Sport was there, with the ex-Nelson Piquet Ralt RT1 F3 car (above) on our stand, and Motor Sport photographer Eric Sawyer was named ‘journalist of the year’ in the annual Historic Motorsport Awards.

Gary Pearson was named ‘race driver of the year’, while Barrie Williams was honoured as the ‘historic personality of the year’. The Goodwood Revival was named ‘race meeting of the year’ and the FIA Lurani Trophy Formula Junior Championship claimed ‘championship of the year’.
