Tour entries flood in

The third running of Tour Britannia has already attracted a record entry, even though the classic race and rally event is still four months away.

The entry broke through the 60 mark at Easter, and top names signed up so far include the evergreen Barrie Williams in an MGB, former BTCC and Le Mans racer and team boss Richard Lloyd in a Z28 Camaro and former rally star and team boss Tony Fall in a Datsun 240Z with Yvonne Mehta.

Exotic machinery expected includes Gareth Burnett’s Ford GT40 and John Grant’s Chevron B16. BTCC man and 2006 pacesetter Nick Whale leads a strong Porsche contingent, while among the pre-war cars is the Riley Blue Streak of Julian Bronson. Motor Sport will be competing too, with Andrew Frankel and John Davenport in Porsches.

The event runs from September 4-6, starting from Brands Hatch and taking in races at Donington Park, Mallory Park and Oulton Park plus hillclimbs and stages in the grounds of stately homes.
