Stirling Moss – Le champion sans couronne

Though relatively slim, this packs in a lot of detail as well as an impressive picture selection, particularly over the early years, using many pictures from our own LAT archive. It is enlivened by colour illustrations of many of Moss’s cars to offset the mostly black and-white photography. It is, however, in French only — an English version will be available by the end of the year.

In the wake of Robert Edwards’ official biography of Sir Stirling, you could not expect anything new from the horse’s mouth. But there are some fresh quotes from contemporaries and continental journalists, together with sidebars on other drivers and cars to augment the story. There’s a summa ry of racing in Britain up to WWII which sets the scene for Pa Moss’ exploits, as well as results tables. Useful and compact. GC
