VSCC'S Senna tribute at Donington
The biggest-ever gathering of Ayrton Senna’s grand prix cars will be the key feature of the VSCC’s ‘tribute to Ayrton Senna’ race meeting at Donington Park on June 21/22.
Marking the 10th anniversary of Senna’s epic victory in Donington’s European Grand Prix, the weekend will be headlined by demonstration runs and static displays of cars raced by the Brazilian during his Formula One career. It will be the first time that they have been gathered in one place.
All of the McLarens he drove, three Lotuses, a Toleman and the Williams FWO8C that he first tested at Donington 20 years ago will be there. Extensive Senna memorabilia will be on show, both at the circuit and at the Donington Grand Prix Collection, with shuttle buses operating between the track and the collection’s building.
The 19-race programme includes the VSCC’s Seaman and Flockhart Memorial Trophies, while six races will be run for the Shell Historic Ferrari Maserati Challenge. The only UK rounds of the season for this series will feature separate races for disc-braked sportscars, drum-braked sportscars and single-seaters, with all groups racing each day.
