Group C revival races into the night at Silverstone
The Burgeoning Group C revival series will be one of the star attractions during the Silverstone Historic Festival meeting in late August when the cars will compete in a two-hour race into the evening.
The race, which will run for the famous British Empire Trophy, will start at 7.30pm on Saturday August 25 and a field of up to 30 Group C cars is expected. Pitstops, refuelling and driver changes will all feature in the event, which will conclude in near darkness. Derek Bell and Jochen Mass are among the star names being invited to take part. Entries will include the Jaguar XJR16 of Win Percy, a Swiftair Ecosse and cars from Porsche, Spice and Aston Martin.
The British Empire Trophy is one of the BRDC’s most famous awards, and was originally presented for pre-war races at Brooklands and Donington. John Cobb won the first race in 1932 with a Delage V12.
