TWR to run IMSA
Tom Walkinshaw Racing is to expand its Jaguar racing involvement next season when it takes over the entire IMSA programme in the USA at the start of 1988. TWR is to start testing an IMSA version of the successful Jaguar XJR-8 in August and will begin a 15-race, two-car programme next January.
TWR will thus replace Bob Tullius who has looked after Jaguar fortunes in the USA since 1974. Meanwhile, on this side of the Atlantic, TWR will continue to field a World Sportscar Championship bid for Jaguar in 1988. However, none of this year’s cars will be made available for sale, as some private teams had hoped.
