Porsche policy

Sir,

For several years I have been a Porsche fanatic, having obtained great pleasure from owning a 911S for four years. Recently, I have made numerous enquiries to Porsche dealers on the Continent to purchase a new 911SC for personal export to UK at a price of approximately £12.900. The replies indicate that Porsche Zuffenhausen have decreed that no RHD UK specification cars are to be made available for sale on the Continent for personal export. This is against the spirit of the Free Trade Agreement within the EEC.

It grieves me to think that Porsche deliberately entertain a “Lost Sales Policy” in the benign hope of maintaining excessively high mark up on UK sales.

So, come on Porsche, let’s have a fairer pricing policy in UK, or perhaps you would prefer to see me at the BMW showroom, God forbid.
