INTERNATIONAL WELSH RALLY

ESCORTS, OLD AND NEW, appeared in the International Welsh Rally last month. Outright winners were wily Ford team veterans Roger Clark/Jim Porter in an Escort II (above) with the same mechanical parts as its successful predecessor. Bristolians Nigel Rockey and Ron Channon used one of the old Escorts (right), on loan from the factory, and scored a fine second place, whilst third went to Tony Pond and Mike Broad in an Opel Ascona, pictured below passing one of the hundreds of natural grandstands in the Welsh forests.
