Top: “Driver of the Meeting” Richard Pilkingston, second in the 15-lap Allcomers’ Race in Simm Phillips Cooper-Bristol. Left-a contrast in VSCC machinery, Freddie Giles’ very quick-cornering KTOR-JAP-engined GN “Salome” seen above the picture of the Sellers/T. Gjertsen Light-15 Citroen roadster. Right-that hard-tried Frank Lockhard with the 3-litre single-seater Rover well wound up, with Van Rossem’s 1952 Cooper-Bristol pressing him hard! All the atmosphere of a vitage Silverstone was there in full measure, in spite of a very biting wind and rain for the 40-minute High Speed Trial.
