Laurence Pomeroy vindicated

Sir,

I have just finished reading your excellent article on British Leyland’s “new” car. Studying the late Mr. L. Pomeroy’s theories, there can only have been one car for him, the V4-engined front-wheel-drive Saab 96 with rear wheels designed to stay parallel under any cornering conditions.

Saab’s rally successes must prove that Mr. Pomeroy was quite correct when extolling the virtues of front-wheel drive in BMCs and of vee-engines in Fords.

Thank you for your first-class magazine.
