The Rally Handbook
Published by Batsford in May was a comprehensive work by Richard Hudson-Evans entitled “The Rally Handbook”. It does just as the title suggests, explaining in detail the building of a rally car, driving it, navigating it, servicing it and dealing with all the paperwork. Even the rally organiser’s job is discussed. Hudson-Eans, presently a reporter on ITV’s Drive-in programme, is an amateur rally driver of many years’ experience and the countless practical hints in his book stem from personal experience in the workshop and on cold, wet nights on bleak Welsh mountainsides. An extremely worthwhile manual for the shelves of any beginner to the sport, and one which would doubtless provide a few tips even far the experienced. It runs to 206 pages, is adequately illustrated and costs £2.20. — G. P.
