Old Car Auctions

Sir,
I sent for particulars of a forthcoming veteran and vintage auction and the following extract from the terms of sale may interest you:—

“Commission on each lot sold will be 12 1/2% and on each lot unsold 5%, of the last bid. A commission of 12 1/2% on the reserve price will be charged on vehicles withdrawn before the sale.” I imagine the auctioneers’ interest in vintage cars may be biased by pecuniary considerations!
