To Keep The Record Straight
The last two pictures in last month’s article on the Rileys raced by Comdr. H. G. Dobbs were transposed by the printers and are thus incorrectly captioned, while the “Riley Race” mentioned in the text was obviously the L.C.C. Relay Race. The car driven at the V.S.C.C. Silverstone Meeting by Smart was the Norris Special with Alvis engine, not a Morris Special as printed. The Triumph Herald 12/50 driven in the Mobil Economy Run by Kyd retired with failure of the bearings in a rear hub carrier, not those in the engine. On page 349 it was stated that B.M.C. put electrical equipment on the manifold side of their A-series power units; this should have read “on the non-manifold side” as the drawings emphasised. Our apologies!
