There is to be a parade and Concours d’Elegance of veteran and vintage cars in connection with the Flimwell Youth Club Fete at Ticehurst, Sussex, starting at approximately 2.30 p.m. on July 6th. Entries, at 2s. 6d. per car, close on June 28th. Entry forms from J. Molesworth Edwards, Ticehurst Motors Ltd., The Square, Ticehurst, Sussex.
The Oxford Freedom From Hunger Committee is staging a big cavalcade of cars and festival of flowers at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxon, on June 9th. Entries have closed. The cavalcade, the Palace rooms, not normally open on Sundays, and floral decorations will be open to visitors.
The annual Fleet Carnival Motor Rally and Pride-of-Ownership Contest will be held at Fleet, Hampshire, on June 16th at 2 p.m., with classes for all types of vehicles from modern scooters to steamers and commercials. Entries, at 5s. per vehicle per class, close on June 10th. Forms from Mr. Atkins, Council Offices, Fleet, Hampshire.
A Concours d’Elegance for veteran, vintage and p.v.t. vehicles will be held on June 20th in conjunction with Melton Mowbray Carnival. Entry forms from G. Liston-Young, Dickinson & Morris L.t.d., Melton Mowbray, Leics. On June 1st the M.G. C.C. Vintage and Triple-M Registers’ rally at the Montagu Motor Museum, Beaulieu, and on June 3rd the annual veteran and vintage car rally in connection with the Verwood (Dorset) Carnival takes place, cars arriving from 9.30-11.45 a.m., for the parade at noon and tests and/or processions in the afternoon.
The Chiltern Traction Engine Club will be holding their third rally at Chartbridge End Farm, near Chesham, on June 29th at 12-noon. In addition, members of the V.S.C.C. have been invited to be present with their cars.
Entries are being sought for the North Staffs and Cheshire Traction Engine Club’s Rugeley Rally on July 20th/21st. This invitation is also extended to owners of veteran and vintage cars, and full details are obtainable from Mr. S. L. Wedgwood of Halcombe House, 173, Congleton Road, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs.
The Bury St. Edmunds Round Table are holding a veteran and vintage car and motorcycle Concours d’Elegance in conjunction with their annual fete on Whit Monday, June 2nd. In addition they hope to put on a display of motoring miscellania and intending competitors or owners of interesting items should contact Mr. G. B. Day, 5, Caulfield Close, Bury St. Edmunds.
The Riley Register will be holding its annual Coventry Rally on July 6/7th. This is to be held at Bagington by the kind permission of the Coventry Flying and Country Club. Further information may be had from Mrs. E. M. Hudson, 17, Laneham Avenue, Arnold, Notts.
