Prescott Hill-Climb (May 19th)
The entry was disappointing, two of the spors-car classes having only three runners, the 1 1/2-litre racing car class two, and the 2-litre rating car class only one. F.T.D. was made by Michael Christie’s Kieft 1,100. Tyrer broke Willis’ 1 1/2/3-litre sports-car record by 0.25 sec. The 500 c.c.-class record fell three times, H. L. Williams’ Cooper beating Rogers’ old figure by 0.4 sec. Peter Collins beat his own 1 1/2-litre-racing-car-class record by 0.16 sec. Allard ran his four-wheel-drive Steyr-Allard for the first time, but was beaten by Stubberfield’s Bugatti by 0.51 sec. Rain marred the second half.
