Moto GP legend Valentino Rossi will close on his goal of competing in the world’s biggest endurance race when he makes his four-wheeled competition debut at Le Mans this summer.

The Doctor, a nine-time world champion on two wheels, will compete in the two 55-minute Road to Le Mans support races at the 24 Hours, which count toward the Michelin Le Mans Cup series. The grid will feature LMP3 cars mixed with GT3 runners. Rossi will race for the WRT BMW team.

Rossi has been a regular in GT World Challenge Europe for the past two years with WRT, first racing an Audi R8 LMS GT3 in 2022 and then switching to the new BMW M4 GT3 for this year. He is also due to test the new M Hybrid V8 Hypercar ahead of BMW launching a full assault on both the World Endurance Championship and Le Mans in 2024. “I would like to try it and we will test,” said Rossi. “Then it will be necessary to understand how fast I will be to become a Hypercar class driver. It will be a difficult challenge.”
