Hill Lotus crashed at Silverstone
The ex-Graham Hill Lotus 49-R3, normally on show at the National Motor Museum, was damaged during the press day for the Silverstone Classic.
Museum manager Doug Hill was driving the 1967 car during a session dedicated to media passenger rides when he lost control at Woodcote and clattered the pitwall. Though Hill escaped unharmed, two corners of the car were damaged and model experts suggested that such an impact could have resulted in damage to the tub.
It is not the first time the car has been damaged while in the care of the museum, as it was previously crashed in the grounds of Beaulieu.
