Stacey's Lotus restored after 40 years
The Lotus 11 owned and driven by Grand Prix racer Alan Stacey in 1957 returned to the track after 40 years in a lock-up garage when new owner Malcolm Ricketts tested it at Silverstone.
“This is a bit of Lotus history that’s been hidden away since the mid-60s,” said Ricketts, who spent four years acquiring the car and then having it restored to exact period specification.
Stacey raced it as part of the works team in 1957 and won the Madgwick Trophy at Goodwood. After passing through other hands, it was converted into a strange GT car in 1963, but was not seen again in public until April.
