Trimmer dominates Brands in F5000 Lola
Brandsmeister is back with a bang
Single-seater star’s race return follows Motor Sport feature
Former F3 champion and Maki F1 hero Tony Trimmer returned to racing big-bangers, after a four year lay-off, at Brands Hatch on May 6. Driving the same Lola T332 F5000 car in which he dominated 1980s Formula Libre events, the popular Kent veteran won the Derek Bell Trophy race with ease from second-place man — and the car’s owner — Frank Lyons. Trimmer, the subject of a recent Motor Sport career retrospective (May ’06 issue) has raced sporadically in Formula Ford in recent years and will have further outings in the V8 classic later this year.
