Transatlantic Bugatti
An appreciative Frank Allocca in New Jersey is the newest of a long line of owners to enjoy the Type 37A Bugatti which Jack Lemon Burton’s father bought in 1931 as a Christmas present for his son, from Bugatti’s London depot.
It was later given a Type 43 engine by Louis Giron in 1935, and driven in competitions as a Type 35B by Sheila Darbyshire, Lady Mary Grosvenor, T G Moore (who owned Motor Sport) and many others, until it went out to California in 1952. From about 1961 to 1976 it was in the Briggs Cunningham Museum, until brought back to London.
