Rahal to race his own 917 at Le Mans
Ex-Jaguar F1 boss Bobby Rahal will be one of the star entries for the Le Mans Classic event in September.
The three-time CART champion will compete in his recently acquired Porsche 917. This is chassis 021, which crashed at Le Mans in 1970, but later took second place in the Kyalami Nine Hours with Jo Siffert and Kurt Ahrens at the wheel.
More than 300 cars are scheduled for the event, which will give five groups of cars four sprint races each in a 24-hour period. Cars of the type that contested Le Mans between 1923-75 will take part, with Ferraris, GT4Os and Jaguars packing the provisional entry.
