Formula one team owner Eddie Jordan will bring a Jordan 191 to the Goodwood Festival. The Seven-Up liveried 191 chassis was the machine in which Michael Schumacher made his amazing GP debut. McLaren has confirmed that it will run this year’s MP4-12.
A cairn has been built on Aston Hill to mark the spiritual birthplace of Aston Martin. The monument was unveiled by Lady Paula Brown, widow of Sir David Brown, seen above with, from left to right, former and current chairmen, Victor Gauntlett and Bob Dover.
The Jim Russel Racing Drivers School, which counts world champion Damon Hill among its graduates, is 40 years old this month. Founded by successful racer Jim Russell in 1957, the enterprise was the first to bring single-seater competition within reach of the man in the street.
Leading British historic racer Philip Walker faces a lengthy recuperation after a freak accident while testing his 1934 MG K3 Magnette. Walker, 39, was doing a practice start when the gearbox exploded. Shrapnel damaged Philip’s left heel and a programme of reconstructive surgery is underway.
