SUPPORTING RACE PROGRAME
Formula Opel Euroseries
This preview rates with the Touring Cars as a difficult one. At the time of writing. the seven rounds held in the 1994 Euroseries had been won by six different drivers, whilst all three men that had won British races have also entered for the Silverstone event.
Brazil’s Marco Campos, in his first season out of karts, leads the championship for the ultra-successful Draco Racing. Hot on his heels, though, are Dutchmen Tom Coronel and Donny Crevels, driving for van Amersfoort Racing and AR Motorsport respectively. Other ’94 Euroseries race winners in the field are Alessandro Ferraresi (Bicar Racing) and Nicola Crocioni (Vergani Racing).
Also well in contention is Britain’s Richard Westbrook, who has been ultraconsistent and is due a win soon for Anglo European Motorsport. All the leading contenders are present
from the home-based series for this, a single chassis formula powered by GM’s two-litre, 16 valve engine. Ralph Firman and Owen McAuley represent Paul Stewart Racing, Jamie Davies is in action for Martin Donnelly Racing and Guy Smith upholds David Sears Motorsport’s chances.
The result? Well, the Paul Stewart team is based down the road in Milton Keynes, so we’ll go for Firman from Campos (Draco is always competitive) and Davies.
