Given Ron Dennis’ own admission that he feels pain upon waking the day after any Grand Prix that his cars haven’t won, 1994 must so far have been a very hurtful season for him. Certainly, for a man used to winning, and a team which takes it as its creed, the first half of the year has been difficult as McLaren develops its relationship with Peugeot. Already some basic expectations have been filled: it has become apparent that the McLaren side of the operation is pretty much up to par, and that Peugeot has a lot of work to do. No surprises there. But the signs are encouraging. The MP4/9 brakes better than anything and handles well. Peugeot knows what it has to do and is pursuing its goal
