Pembrey's first race meeting
Llanelli Borough Council’s Welsh Motorsports Centre at Pembrey became Britain’s newest fully-fledged motor racing venue on May 21, when it ran its first meeting five days after being granted a licence for its 1.5-mile track.
Already a popular testing circuit even for Formula One teams, its opening race programme started with an MGOC event and included pre-1983 Formula Ford 2000s, 1974/79 FF1600s, modified and production saloons and 850cc and 1000cc Minis.
