Scottish Rally

This year’s Lombard Scottish Rally lacked some of its former flavour, but Tony Pond’s victory in the silver DTV Chevette HSR (above) was nevertheless steeped in glory. He and Mike Nicholson, co-driving, led Jim McRae’s DOT Ascona 400, (below) for most of the two day classic event in the Highlands. The two GM cars bettered the Rothmans Rally Team’s Escorts, with Malcolm Wilson managing a third place finish after gently rolling his car on the final day.
